Statement on clinical staff involvement

The proposals for change to services at Lightburn are driven by changing clinical needs.

Our clinical staff have been closely involved in discussions to develop the proposals which were shaped by and discussed with the clinical team on a number of occasions including at a meeting of consultants from across the north east of Glasgow.

Senior doctors including the clinical director, the lead clinician and the lead allied health professional; are on the stakeholder reference group, which is leading the engagement process.

These clinical staff have participated in public events, as did the local lead GP and other staff representing the service.

The doctor responsible for the Parkinson’s service is also involved and has met with the Parkinson’s UK to discuss her views of alternative services.

As part of the engagement process the proposals have also been discussed at the Board Area Medical Committee, Hospital Sub Committee and GP Sub Committee - all of which represent the views of doctors and all of which have supported the proposed changes.

Local GPs have also discussed and supported the proposals. These views will be reported back to the Board when it makes the decision on the next steps.
