Patients in Clydebank and Greenock will benefit from two new state of the art health and social care facilities following approval of initial agreements at today’s Board meeting.
The next step is submitting the initial agreements to the Scottish Government Capital investment Group for their approval.
A total of approximately £40 million will see the two new health centres being built in the Clyde area.
A site at Queen’s Quay for the new Clydebank facility has already been identified, and a final proposed site for Greenock is hoped to be agreed by the end of this month.
Robert Calderwood, Chief Executive, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: “Approval of initial agreements for both new health centres was agreed at today’s Board meeting and this is another step forward in providing modern healthcare facilities for the residents of Clydebank and Greenock.
“The initial agreements will now be submitted to the Scottish Government Capital Investment Group for approval and all going to plan we expect building to begin in 2018.
Both health centres will be provided through the Scottish Government’s Scottish Future Trust for investment in primary healthcare facilities and schools.
