Tough national targets for all inpatient, outpatient and key diagnostic appointments continue to be successfully delivered across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC).

At the end of March this year NHSGGC achieved a number of key waiting times milestones, which saw no patient no now having to wait more than 12 weeks for a hospital appointment after they have been referred by their GP, the achievement of a 12 week maximum waiting time from the decision to perform an operation and it taking place and the length of time for referrals for diagnostic investigations and the procedure taking place has been reduced to six weeks.

At today’s Board meeting members heard that thanks to the enormous efforts of staff these standards have continued to be delivered.

Jane Grant, NHSGGC’s Chief Operating Officer for the Acute Division, said: “Continuing to meet these targets is particularly pleasing when viewed in the context that we are treating some 88,000 inpatients, 362,000 new outpatients and 145,000 day cases every year.

“Our patients can be confident that every effort is being made to ensure that they are seen and treated as quickly as possible.”
