The Chairman of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has welcomed today’s announcement of a Public Inquiry by the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing.
Mr Andrew Robertson said: “A great many lessons have already been learned and significant improvements to infection control surveillance and management arrangements have been made at the Vale of Leven Hospital. These improvements have informed further significant HAI system changes both locally and as part of the national HAI action plan. We are pleased that this progress has been acknowledged by both the Cabinet Secretary and the Independent Review Panel.
“We absolutely recognise the support amongst the families and within the local community for a Public Inquiry. We have fully co-operated with both the Independent Review Panel investigation and the on-going Crown Office investigations and in this same spirit we will ensure that Lord Coulsfield and his inquiry team receive our full co-operation.”
