NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Statement on National Car Parking Policy Review

September 14, 2007 8:37 AM

We welcome the announcement of this review and will play a full part in supporting it.
It is clear that there are challenges faced all over Scotland in ensuring that patients, visitors and staff who need a car for vital duties can access hospital car parks when they need to.
Our policy, underpinned by the existing national guidance, has tried to meet this challenge by putting these interests at its core.
We have already seen significant improvements at the sites where the policy now applies. This means patients, and disabled drivers in particular, are parking virtually problem free for the first time.
Our existing policy will remain in force during the review.
Notes to Editors:
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde will continue with its plans for “phase two” implementation of its car parking policy.
This sees it being applied at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Southern General Hospital and Stobhill Hospital later this year.
