Local people have been asked their views on the design of the new purpose-built £18m health and social care centre at Barrhead.
As part of our commitment to involve local people we arranged for the newly appointed design team, Avanti Architects, to meet with a wide range of local community groups. The main concerns raised were the size of building, car parking, access, toilet facilities, style of roof and location of the main entrance.
This feedback will be taken into account by the architects as they develop the design of the building over the next couple of months.
The new health and social care centre will provide a wide range of services including dental services, physiotherapy, podiatry (foot care), community nursing and social work services.
It will also provide accommodation for three GP practices, day-care and support services for older people and community mental health services.
Councillor Douglas Yates, Chair of the East Renfrewshire Community Health and Care Partnership (CHCP) said: “We want a local health centre that is fit for the 21st century. Local people know what they want and we are committed to involving them in achieving a modern and attractive new health centre for the local area.
