NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Update Statement on Diarrhoea and Vomiting

December 31, 2007 1:50 PM

Two wards at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) in Paisley have now reopened and three wards will reopen today at the Victoria Infirmary.
Only one ward now remains temporarily closed at the RAH and two temporarily closed at the Victoria Infirmary as a result of diarrhoea and vomiting.
Tom Walsh, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Infection Control Manager, said: “We will continue to monitor this fluctuating situation closely and will continue doing all that we can to further prevent the spread of this virus.”
We would also like to remind visitors of the importance of hand hygiene when entering and leaving hospital premises and ask anyone who has experienced any symptoms of diarrhoea or vomiting within the last forty-eight hours not to visit any of our hospitals.
THE NEXT UPDATE WILL BE ISSUED ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 3RD, 2008.
