UPDATE ON CRYPTOSPORIDIOSIS OUTBREAK SEPTEMBER 15, 2003

STATEMENT FROM NHS GREATER GLASGOW AND EAST RENFREWSHIRE COUNCIL

 

Eastwood Pool has been confirmed as the most likely source of the recent Cryptosporidiosis outbreak in Glasgow's Southside.

Following extensive testing, high levels of cryptosporidium oocysts were found in the water and filter of the pool.

In addition, another case of confirmed Cryptosporidiosis has been found to have had a link to Eastwood Pool. This brings the total number of confirmed cases linked to the pool to seven.

The pool remains closed to allow investigations to continue.

The Outbreak Control Team meets again on Friday to review the situation.
