Celebrating 70 years of the NHS

On 5th July 2018, the NHS will celebrate its 70th Anniversary and we want everyone to get involved - from patients and the public to our staff and our partners in health and social care and the voluntary sector, professional bodies, and unions.

It’s a great opportunity to look back and celebrate 70 years of achievement in Scotland and the difference the NHS has made to people’s lives, and to reaffirm our on-going commitment to the founding principles of the NHS.

It will allow us to demonstrate the achievements and successes of the NHS and the dedication of NHS staff whilst acknowledging the challenges they face.

A special NHSScotland website has been created with fantastic content such as:

Timeline: An interactive timeline showcasing some of the fantastic accomplishments, milestones, innovations and breakthroughs that have been made in the NHS in Scotland over the years.

History: How the NHS came into being in Scotland is a story that isn't widely known. It had its own strong and distinctively Scottish roots well before 1948.

Anniversary: 5th July 2018 marks the 70th Anniversary of The National Health Service. Join NHSScotland and its partners in celebrating 70 years of the NHS in 2018 and find out how you can get involved.

Use this link to visit the website. www.ournhsscotland.com or use the hashtag #NHSScot70

Please note it is continuing to be enriched with more content.

In this 70th year of the NHS why not become a blood donor and sign up to become an organ donor – it’s our NHS and it deserves the support of us all.
