Record number of nominations for Chairman's Awards

Residents across Greater Glasgow and Clyde have been thanked for submitting a record number of nominations for the annual NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Chairman's Awards.

Almost 300 nominations have been received for the prestigious scheme which recognises staff who provided exceptional care - the highest ever in the eight years since the awards were launched.

The winners will be announced at a special Celebrating Success awards night on Monday, 6th November.  The seven categories are:

  • Clinical practice
  • Improving health
  • International service
  • Nursing
  • Patient centred care
  • Using resources better
  • Volunteering / patient ambassador

NHSGGC Chairman, John Brown, said: “This is the eighth year of the awards and I am delighted with the best ever response from patients, their relatives and healthcare professionals in identifying so many worthy nominees.

“These awards give the people of Greater Glasgow and Clyde and our staff the opportunity to shine a light on the best examples of care carried out the Board area.

“I find it very pleasing that patient centred care and nursing are the categories with the largest number of nominations. This showcases the very best examples of staff pulling together to deliver care tailored to a patient’s individual requirements.

“Every year the nominations are of a very high standard and each year we have the hard job of narrowing each category down to just one winner. However, this is a wonderful challenge to have and I thank our residents for showing such outstanding support for our dedicated staff.”
