Climate Week 2014

3rd - 9th March 2014

Climate Week this year is going off with a bang!  All the information you will need to get involved this week can be found here along with our programme of events and who is getting involved.

Over the next week a full programme can be found here along with the success stories and pictures after the event.

We have 6 EcoSwap events being held by volunteers from various departments across the board. The idea of the EcoSwaps is to show people that you can be sustainable with items which are no longer of use to you but could be of use to someone else. Instead of keeping items cluttering up your home we are encouraging staff to bring in some items to these events and see if they can swap themselves a more useful item. These locations these events are taking place can be found below:

  • Royal Alexandra Hospital - 7th March 12.00-14.00 Classroom 1
  • Gartnavel General/Royal Hospital - 5th March 14.00-15.00 Main Admin block Cafe

  • Gartnavel General/Royal Hospital - Tuesday PM
  • Southern General Hospital -  Wednesday PM

Southern General Sustainable Catering

The team at the Southern General Hospital are introducing a sustainable meal for Climate Week. All ingredients are sourced locally and the food is cooked fresh on site. This will be available on Thursday 6th March only. So for a tasty and sustainable treat why not pop into our canteen on site for our one day only Beef and Vegetable Hot Pot.

Further to this if you bring your public transport ticket to the catering facility in the Southern General hospital you can purchase a regular tea or coffee for only 50p. A nice reward for doing something sustainable.

Our Posters

The enthusiastic children at Yorkhill Hospital have designed a colourful poster which will be sent out to all our staff during Climate Week. Even the children are aware that some of our actions are contributing to climate change and they have taken time to provide us with their throughts through their poster. The poster will be available on our website so look out for it coming online in the near future.
